Literally, it is outstanding because it is simple. I am attaching a story I came across, as to why we need to study Bhagwat Gita. Enjoy ! We are with Amit & Parivar at Sunnyvale. We shall leave for Mumbai on Aug 19. Shubhkaamnao Sahit, Ashok AK Srivastava 852, Elmira Drive Sunnyvale CA 94087 USA Home 408 736 7803 Bhagavad Gita Many of us do read The 'Bhagavad Gita', even if some of us can't understand a single Sanskrit word. The following is a beautiful story on why we do (or should do) it........ An old Farmer lived on a farm in the mountains with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Bhagavat Gita. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could. One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa! I try to read the Bhagavat Gita just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand, I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Bhagavat Gita do?" The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water." The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead. The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again. At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless!" "So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "But, look at the basket." The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out. "Son, that's what happens when you read the Bhagavat Gita. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out. That is the work of God in our lives." "Celebrate Life. Care for others and share whatever you have with those less fortunate than you. Broaden your vision, for the whole world belongs to you." ----Original Message Follows---- From: Rita Kumar To: arvind Singhal , asha mansinghka , asha dharwadkar , ashaji surenji , Ashok Srivastava , ashok Dolly , "Ashok K. Dear Anju Sharma , ashirwads
I am happy to receive your mail . Every human being has to perform his or her ordained duties . There is no respite from that . Biologically we are born that way . Duty is for trhe welfare of the society and not for ones selfish ends . Basically human beings get peace of mind if they get satisfactory results of their actions . If not frustation builds up leading to ill health and possible depression . Gita has suggested an easy way out which may be difficult to imbibe and follow . It also has suggested ways and means to achieve this state of mind . In simple words do your pious duties and leave rest to the God . Never brood over your actions . Not even think about them . It does no good . Think of actions as if you are writing on a slate and wiping it off clean . In any case you are helpless and have no control on the events . So the wilful acceptance is the only way out of remorse . We have no choice .
According to Gita complete surrender to God comes unawares, after lots of efforts and meditation . Then you forget you exist for yourself and all your actions are absolutely selfless and for the good of others. It may not be possible for ordinary human beings to achieve this.

You should not hesitate in the least in following your rightful path rigorously till the end irrespective of the results . This is your abounding duty .

Having said so , if you are unsuccessful in altering your adverse circumstances to your liking despite all your efforts and there appears to be no other recourse ( like Supreme Court decision ), for your own peace of mind it would be expedient to leave every thing to God . Then you would not blame yourself and would have no guilt . Just merely accept life as it is and seek some comfort and solace in it . Remember you have no choice . This appears to be an easy way out to remain normal and healthy .
With best wishes
Uncle

Dear Uncle,
charanvandana.we are in the same position as Arjun.but we dont have a sarthi .we could not bring ourself to fight with our family member, resulting we are in a very bad situation (legaly).our lawyers only made money and misguided us.
i think hindus are in dire need of this nector, and a guru.but i have a question,in the beginning krishna says ,we have to fight for our right, afterwards ,we have to surrender ourselves to god.what if we surrender ourselves from the beginning,( then who will fight) will god fight for us?
please excuse my english,i am not a very educated person.
thank you so much
